Review:

I had to rip a CD recently and the programs that i tried were not up to the task for several reasons. Either i had to download a library or the interface was too complicated so i made the decision to look for something more efficient and after a while i came across FairStars CD Ripper. This program comes with all the required libraries for ripping tracks into the most common formats and has a simple interface. All you have to do is to introduce your music CD, select a destination folder, output type and click extract. ID3 tag support, volume adjustment and querying CD information from the freedb database to fill out missing details are among the other features that FairStars CD Ripper has. As you can see FairStars CD Ripper is fully featured and should suffice most standards need like the one that i had. Available for Windows 2000/XP/XP MCE/2003/Vista/2008.

CDBurnerXP Portable: Disc burning app for your USB flash drive

October 23, 2008
CDBunerXP

CDBurnerXP is my favorite free disc burning app for Windows. It handles all the tasks you would expect from a commercial application like Nero including burning data, audio, or ISO discs. It won’t burn video DVDs unless your videos are already formatted for DVD creation. But there’s free software to do that too.

Sure, the price is right, but there’s another thing that sets CDBurnerXP apart from most commercial apps: it comes in a portable version. In other words, you can download, unzip, and run CDBurnerXP from your hard drive, a USB flash drive, or any other media. There’s no need to install it.

The portable version of CDBurnerXP isn’t updated as frequently as the normal version. But you can always find the lastest build on the portable download page. The latest version of CDBurnerXP is 4.2.2 and contains some bug fixes you won’t find in the most recent portable version which is 4.1.2.
